The New Maxwell St. Market on Canal St. – September 9, 2004

A photowalk with photojournalist Marc PoKempner. He has been photographing Maxwell St. for several decades now and knows many of the vendors so I didn’t feel awkward taking pictures of people. One of those times that I actually felt conscious taking pictures of strangers.

Marc PoKempner’s Down at Theresa’s Book Launch – May 9, 2000

Product description (amazon.com): Stunning black and white photographs capture the people and the atmosphere at the world famous blues venue Theresa’s Lounge in the late 1960′s. Marc PoKempner’s shots are full of the very vigor that characterized the gritty, garish, good-time working class Chicago blues era when legends such as Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Otis Spann, Jimmy Rogers, and Junior Wells performed down at Theresa’s.

Book signing was at Chicago’s best blues club, Rosa’s Lounge on W. Armitage. The German publisher was at the event.

Hurray for Marc! New and collectible editions of this book run from $223 up!
