Independence Day Fireworks – July 3, 2006

It’s been Ron’s and my tradition to be on the lakefront during the Independence Day Fireworks. We usually stake real estate right on Lake Shore Drive between Randolph and Monroe Sts. as they block LSD during the show. This year, we invited some members of the Chicago Flickr Meetup Club to join us.

DPC GTG, July 3, 2004

One of the first photowalks/meet ups that I actually sort of co-lead.

Sort of … because it wasn’t me who organized it but I helped organize the activities for the day. This was the get together of dpchallenge.com members around the midwest.

We met at Navy Pier, had a boat tour and then some drinks at the Signature Lounge and then the fireworks and more photowalks in the evening. Unfortunately I lost most of the pictures of the GTG and only have these three left.

Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikkor 24-120mm

More pictures of the GTG are at pitsaman’s PBase Gallery.

I remember only two participants in the group – David April from the burbs (he was the main organizer of the walk, I seem to remember) and Chris Beller from Indiana. They have gone on to better things.

David’s photographs are featured in the Capture my Chicago book.
