Union Square, New York City – January 30 and February 1, 2012

I had to check out the place where I will be interviewed for a teaching job in New York City. The building was a block off Union Square, so after finding the building, we went around Union Square quickly, and then had lunch at The Coffee Shop.

Union Square is a historic public space where two principal thoroughfares in Manhattan meet: Broadway and Bowery Rd. (now 4th Ave.). Tbere are several structures in the square including statues of US presidents (Washington and Lincoln, I think). There is also a green market and a fountain.

The next day, after the interview, we met up with friends at the Union Square Cafe for dinner and then went around the Square for a bit.
